The Heritage Trail Plan is a regional network
of automobile, bicycle and pedestrian facilities that connects Northwest
Arkansas citizens and visitors to our rich heritage, our recreational
and cultural assets, a healthier lifestyle, and to each other.
By implementing a region-wide network of bike and pedestrian facilities,
the public will have access to healthy and safe alternatives to
automotive travel. This system will also provide opportunities to
experience the historic and natural environments of the area. As
a result, the overall quality of life, economy, and health of the

The Heritage Trail was adopted into the Long
Range Transportation Plan of northwest Arkansas’ Metropolitan
Planning Organization on October 22, 2002.
The Heritage Trail Partners, Inc.
Heritage Trail Partners, Inc. was organized
in January, 2004 for educational, charitable, and scientific purposes
to promote and support the design, development, preservation,
and advancement of the “Heritage Trail” in western
Arkansas (Washington, Benton, Crawford, and Sebastian counties).
Our mission is to promote and support
the design, development,
preservation, and advancement of the Heritage Trail in western
Arkansas.
The most important activity is promoting
the Heritage Trail. The organization coordinates and sponsors
special events, provides education about the trail, and continues
to research the three trail systems. The Board
of Directors meets at least five times per year and a meeting
of all members is held annually.
