About the Heritage Trail

The Heritage Trail Plan is a regional network of automobile, bicycle and pedestrian facilities that connects Northwest Arkansas citizens and visitors to our rich heritage, our recreational and cultural assets, a healthier lifestyle, and to each other.

By implementing a region-wide network of bike and pedestrian facilities, the public will have access to healthy and safe alternatives to automotive travel. This system will also provide opportunities to experience the historic and natural environments of the area. As a result, the overall quality of life, economy, and health of the region will be enhanced. [Click here for more...]

The Heritage Trail was adopted into the Long Range Transportation Plan of northwest Arkansas’ Metropolitan Planning Organization on October 22, 2002.

The Heritage Trail Partners, Inc.

Heritage Trail Partners, Inc. was organized in January, 2004 for educational, charitable, and scientific purposes to promote and support the design, development, preservation, and advancement of the “Heritage Trail” in western Arkansas (Washington, Benton, Crawford, and Sebastian counties).

Our mission is to promote and support the design, development,
preservation, and advancement of the Heritage Trail in western Arkansas.

The most important activity is promoting the Heritage Trail. The organization coordinates and sponsors special events, provides education about the trail, and continues to research the three trail systems. The Board of Directors meets at least five times per year and a meeting of all members is held annually.
