The Lowell Trail System
The City of Lowell, which currently has
no trails constructed, received a $20,000 trails grant from the
Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department for development
of part of the city trail along Puppy Creek.
The Puppy Creek Trail is being developed behind the temporary
headquarters of City Hall on Presidential Drive and will head
east along the creek, under the Arkansas & Missouri railroad
bridge and to the southern boundary of our new 72-acre park to
be opened in the next few years. The new park will also be a home
to a great deal of trail work within its boundaries.
Next, our trail will go west, hooking up with a proposed JB Hunt
Trucking Systems employee trail and go west under the interstate
to the western half of the city.
As for the future, we will see all of the cities of Northwest
Arkansas -- from Bella Vista, through Bentonville, Rogers, Lowell
and Springdale, and down to Fayetteville – all be joined
by a trail system that pedestrians will love. We currently participate
with the City of Rogers Greenways Trail System committee and are
working to be among the first cities to join our trails systems
to each other.
